Hello....
This week we are preparing for our second assessment for unit 1, this time it is expository writing, in which we are going to be explaining a change in our lives.
Tuesday we will be reading Activity 1.17 "The Jacket"
We will also review skills from the FAST testing that we took last week, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Friday, we will be creating a greeting card from a "how to" expository piece of writing. Students will need to bring in 2 pennies for this activity.
Also, for those students who have not picked up their book from either the library or the book store, they can still order books from me. The book they will need is "Holes" by Louis Sacher for $5.24.

Writing Prompt: After you have determined Three Arrows’
greatest
strengths, imagine that you are his
father, the chief, telling how his
son had the mystery of fire revealed to
him. On notebook paper, write
a paragraph from the point of view of the
father. Use the personal
pronoun “I.” Explain to others in the
clan how your son’s strengths
made the Great Spirit reveal to him the
mystery of fire. Remember that
you are explaining, not narrating. You
must have a topic sentence and
reasons to support what you say about Three Arrows.

We are still presenting our landform projects. They look really good. I am really proud of the work the students have put into their individual projects.
The new project is the family tree, with a report, and a family recipe. The finished project will be due on November 2, 2012.
